NAPLAN

NAPLAN is a national literacy and numeracy assessment that runs for students in Years 7 and 9. NAPLAN provides parents and carers the opportunity to track a student’s learning progress in the essential skills of reading, writing and numeracy against national curriculum standards.

NAPLAN 2026 commences, March 11 – 23.

All students should check the Compass Newsfeed and their individual Compass schedules for their allocated testing room.

NAPLAN Device & Equipment Checklist;

  • Install the 2026 NAPLAN Locked Down Browser (LBD) on your device. This can be found in the below link.
    Please ensure the correct browser for your device’s operating system (MAC or WINDOWS)
  • Check your device is fully charged prior to your NAPLAN assessment, and bring your charger on each day of testing.
  • You are bringing a pair of headphones to each NAPLAN assessment. Wired and wireless headphones are allowed.
  • You must bring headphones, earphones or earbuds for each test. Bluetooth headphones are supported. Please turn the volume up before opening the LDB. Music streaming software (such as iTunes and Spotify) must be closed before the Locked Down Browser is launched on the student device. You can check that they work by opening the 2026 NAPLAN Locked Down Browser and clicking 'Device Check.'
  • Pointing Device (mouse): Mouse, trackpad, touchpad or touch screen or other pointing device with which the student is familiar. Apple pencil is not supported.
  • Keyboard: Physical keyboard (wired or wireless) is required for laptops and desktop computers. Physical keyboard (wired or wireless) is required for Windows touch devices. Physical keyboard (wired or wireless) is optional for other devices with a touch screen keyboard, such as tablets.

Testing Session Preparation Checklist;

  • Ensure you are checking Compass regularly for your NAPLAN scheduled sessions. NAPLAN will be conducted in your Home Room group class sets in the English building (Rooms 701-718). Please contact the NAPLAN Coordinator and Attendance team regarding any absences during the testing window at Harrisdale.SHS.Attendance@education.wa.edu.au
  • Catch up testing sessions will also be scheduled in Compass.
  • Students with access to equitable adjustments will have access to trained staff and additional time for testing as required. Please contact the NAPLAN Coordinator at the school if you have any queries regarding test adjustments.
  • If you have any concerns about preparing for the assessments, please speak to your English and Mathematics teachers, as they will be the best people to help you.
