Support Beyond The School

At Harrisdale SHS, we understand that wellbeing extends beyond the classroom, and we encourage students and families to access support from outside the school as needed.

There are many support services available to assist with emotional wellbeing, crisis care, and parenting needs. These services offer confidential, professional help, ensuring families have access to the care and guidance they need, whenever they need it.

Suitable services can be found through your GP, trusted recommendations, or online searches. Headspace, a local and accessible starting point, provides free or low-cost support tailored to young people and their families.

In addition, free parenting education courses are available to help families build strong relationships, manage challenges, and support their children’s development with confidence.

Positive Parenting

Research shows that when parents are actively involved in their child’s education and wellbeing, students are more likely to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The South-East Metro Parenting Support Service (SEMPSS) helps parents to refine their parenting skills and strengthen relationships with their child. For more information visit the SEMPSS website.

The Triple P – Positive Parenting Program offers practical strategies to help parents manage everyday challenges, strengthen family relationships, and support their child’s development. These courses may be found by searching the internet.
