2022 Music Concert

December 2, 2022 by claire

On Thursday 20 October, we held our highly successful 2022 Music Concert. We had more than 190 music students perform throughout the evening (fourteen school ensembles total), and our large audience was treated to a wide variety of musical styles.
A huge thank you to the music students, as well as the friends and family who joined us in the audience, for making the night a great success!

The band is in full swing at Music Camp!

June 24, 2022 by claire

We have been very blessed this morning to have a visit from Dr Paul De Cinque (Chair of Brass and Music Education) and Dr Alan Lourens (Head lecturer of Music) from the UWA Conservatorium of Music. Paul and Alan circulated through our rehearsals, stepping in to lead our wind ensembles, bestowing upon them some of his highly acclaimed knowledge and musical wisdom. Advice from industry specialists of such stature and high calibre is incredibly beneficial for our young musicians and the difference it made to their sound was instantly noticeable.

We were honoured to be invited to attend Harrisdale Primary School and have a small group perform a couple of pieces in their concert. Our Harrisdale SHS Saxophone Ensemble had a fantastic time on stage, and we really enjoyed watching the young, upcoming musical stars perform their pieces. We look forward to having many of you join us as Harrisdale SHS Music students in the coming years!

This evening, Harrisdale SHS came to life with music!

November 25, 2021 by claire

This evening, Harrisdale SHS came to life with music!
Nearly 150 of our talented Music students filled the Harrisdale SHS Sports Hall to participate in our 2021 Music Concert.
It has been a delightful evening of music, with a showcase of ten ensembles, bringing us music from Beethoven, The Beatles, Ariana Grande, and more!
A big congratulations to all students involved, who have dedicated their time throughout the year to their practise, and a big thank you to our wonderful teachers, Miss Barrett and Mr Deane and our IMSS teachers.

A Visit from UWA Conservatorium of Music ’s Chair of Brass and Music Education

October 16, 2021 by claire

Yesterday our brass students were treated to a workshop with the UWA Conservatorium of Music ’s Chair of Brass and Music Education, Dr Paul De Cinque. His teaching role at the Conservatorium includes teaching in the trumpet studio, teaching classes in brass studies, aural skills and community music, as well as conducting the Wind Orchestra, Brass Ensemble, and Trumpet Choir.
Our students played through their Brass Ensemble repertoire, receiving feedback and guidance from Dr De Cinque, along with some helpful tips for developing their technique. Dr De Cinque also spoke with the students about future pathways, opportunities and doors that could be opened to them in the future as musicians. We thank UWA’s Conservatorium of Music for this valuable opportunity.
