‘Danjoo Koorliny’ Netball Carnival

November 19, 2021 by claire

An exciting day on our netball courts today, as Harrisdale SHS hosted an all-day carnival involving Belridge Secondary College, Darling Range Sports College and Atwell College. The aptly name of the carnival, ‘Danjoo Koorliny’, which means ‘coming together’ was selected by Teleisha Ryder, who is one of our Indigenous students.
Students had dedicated their time throughout the year to training in preparation for the game, and results were as follows:
A division results:
1st Harrisdale – 14
2nd Belridge- 9
3rd Darling Range- 8
4th Atwell- 6
B division
1st Harrisdale- 12
2nd Darling Range- 10
3rd Atwell- 9
4th Belridge- 5
With an exceptional effort from our A division team, who were undefeated throughout the day!
It was fantastic to see the students build their netball skills and we were so proud of how they conducted themselves in a professional manner, with the ability to remain focused in high-pressure situations. Well done to our teams on their results and wonderful display of leadership and sporting skills, and a big thank you to our dedicated coaches!

Harrisdale SHS Remembers

November 11, 2021 by claire

At 11.00am today, Harrisdale SHS students and staff paused to honour the memory of all those whose lives were lost serving our nation.
During this time, our Cadets held a commemorative march and a reading of the Ode from the poem ‘For the Fallen’ by Laurance Binyon.
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”

Harrisdale SHS’s Hospitality Students Prepare a Feast for Fogarty!

October 22, 2021 by claire

Yesterday, Harrisdale SHS hosted participants for a ‘Fogarty Ed Vance – Secondary Teacher Leaders Program’ Workshop. This workshop included 65 secondary teachers and presenters from across several metropolitan schools. Our Year 11 Certificate II Hospitality students were tasked to provide Morning Tea and Lunch for the guests. The extensive menu consisted of assorted muffins, Sausage Rolls, mini lemon cheesecakes…and that was just morning tea… At lunch service, the Hospitality students donned their chef whites and served our guests a choice of seasonal vegetable medley, home made gnocchi, braised beef in red wine jus and to finish Sticky date pudding with butter scotch sauce and ice cream. There was high praise from the participants on the level of professionalism shown by the students and also the quality of the food that was served. Congratulations and well done.
